Loving Husband, Father ,Grandfather

On September 25, 2020, Albert Eugen Voehringer, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 81. Albert, Al, or Opa as he was known to his eight grandchildren was born in Unterhausen, Germany on January 31, 1939. Al, who devoted his life to nurturing and supporting his family, is survived by his wife Georgette, his children Monique Bertrando, Michael Voehringer, Marcelle Booth, his grandchildren Alexandra, Emma, Samuel, Michael, Jakob, Lilliana, Matthew, and Margaret ,his daughter-in-law Andrea Voehringer, his sons-in-law Michael Booth and Marc Bertrando, and his many family members and friends in the beautiful Southern Region of Germany.

Immigrating to the United States alone at the age of 15, Al's life epitomized the American Dream as well as the bravery and determination it takes to become a success in a new country. Living with an uncle, Al worked in the family restaurant while attending Central Bucks High School. Upon graduating, he joined the Army in 1961 and remained a true and thankful patriot his entire life. Upon returning to the Philadelphia area in 1965, he met the love of his life with whom he devoted himself to for 53 years. While driving a van and making deliveries for a medical equipment company, Al, an entrepreneur of ceaseless energy and an unmatched tolerance of risk, started his own company Medical Home Care in 1976, which continues to thrive under the capable leadership of his son Michael. Building on the success of his medical equipment business, he founded Horizon Signal Technologies in 1989. He not only created a new company he also helped to create a new industry. By importing technology from his native country, Al helped to create a new form of traffic control. Through his vision, leadership and unwavering commitment, Horizon Signal is now a leader in the industry.

Few people are blessed with living their passions, and for Al, running his businesses was truly a vocation and avocation. However, Al had lots of other interests. When he wasn't working on his next idea, he enjoyed his homes in West Chester, Pennsylvania and Hilton Head, South Carolina, skied, drove his many cars while eluding speeding tickets, sailed, read about world history, or traveled the world with Georgette and his family and friends. Al will be remembered by all who knew him as a compassionate, giving, and grateful man who was devoted to his family and spent his days ensuring that they had the guidance and resources they needed.
